Home

I am so glad to be spending another birthday with you. I am so lucky that from this birthday of yours on, I get to call you my wife. Since just a few weeks after your birthday last year, most people would probably say that we embarked on “the worst year ever”. However, I can honestly say that with you, it has been the best year of my life.  Over the last year, we have spent nearly every hour of every day with each other, and I am the luckiest man in the world for that.  Every moment with you is meaningful- whether working beside each other, succeeding (or failing) to climb a peak, or just holding each other on the couch.  You are the love of my life, and I cannot wait to celebrate many more birthdays together as we grow old. (But don’t worry, you’ll still be just as beautiful to me.)

Love,
Chris

PS: Remember that one card at Whole Foods that said something like “Happy Birthday Dude!”, that I joked about getting you that you said “don’t ever get me that?”.  I bought it the week after, but forgot to bring it with us to Ecuador.  I’m also extremely disappointed that I forgot it because I wanted to see the look on your face.

So because this is not a card, I decided to make it something cool.

So here is our last year..

When I almost surprised you with Steph and Simon coming, then we went to go see kangaroos.

Then when a guy ate a bat and a pandemic came, but we still didnt know what to do.
The first day we went out during the pandemic.
When we realized that we didnt need restaurants to eat out.

When hanging out in Alki beach was our spot 🙂
We discovered our favorite taco place and ate it on the sidewalk
We we tried to climb The Brothers for a month. (This is the beta photo. I wish we took some photos, but I guess we were distracted..)
When climbing became legal again and we missed our helicopter ride on Mt Hood.

When we fed the birds the weird thai food that we didnt like.
When we couldn’t climb Adams because a big serac so we slept in the car and went to Mt Rainier.

But then we got lost in the fog coming back…

When we decided to get married! (But pretended the surprise was a dog or a van.)

Then went we went climbing right after and I made you food on the mountain but you didnt want to eat it 😦

And when we discovered our new favorite dessert!
And when we discovered science at home!
When your parents came to visit us but then we were worried that Steven might give them COVID.

When we planned a wedding in the middle of a pandemic and changed plans last minute.

And of course, the most important moment of my life. When we got married.

And when we decided we wouldn’t be just a regular old married couple still.
When I showed you this.

You are the love of my life.
